Agree to Disagree

I can hear their glares…

and I have…

“Kike!”

“Penny pincher!”

“Thief!”

“Sneaky!”

“Evil!”

“Murderer!”

“Rootless!”

 Well, I disagree. 


If God's word is eternal

Why do they claim

that it has

“changed?”  

 

Surely, all things do.

But not this, for it is the truth.

Therefore, He Above All

remains the same.


These unbroken gold chains

Were given to me by my mother

And her mother before her

Inherited by her mother before her. 


I have seen a gray sky split in two,

And the bad times I never thought I’d see through.

To the lord:

What am I without you?


I am he who spills blood,

for not the fear of a flood.


How you dared to have cleansed me.

Shaping bones under steel.

In the nation that would not heel.

Over and over again. 


Through the slaughter

the proof

of a doctrine

labours eternal.


These roots run deep,

and I am not a thief.

The watch on my wrist proves I am not cheap,

And I am too abrupt to be sneaky


I have never taken a life

Though I have buried my loved ones

six feet deep with my own hands,

shoveling dirt on top of a fancy box,
